We Started With A Simple Question

Why does money stress feel so constant for most people? Not because they're lazy or reckless. But because nobody teaches us how to actually manage it. That question drove Elodie Thornbridge to start mirexolanto back in 2019. She'd spent years watching friends, family, and colleagues struggle with basics that seemed simple once you understood them.

How We Got Here

Six years of learning what really helps people take control of their finances.

2019

The Beginning

Elodie ran the first workshop from a community centre in Fyshwick. Twelve people showed up. Half of them admitted they'd never looked at their bank statements properly. By the end, everyone had built a working budget they could actually stick to.

2021

Growing Demand

Word spreads when something works. We moved to proper premises and hired three more educators. Started running monthly sessions. People kept asking for help with debt, savings goals, and understanding superannuation. So we added those topics.

2023

Expanding Reach

We'd helped over 2,000 Canberrans by this point. But we knew thousands more needed support. Launched online courses that let people learn at their own pace. No pressure, no judgment. Just practical tools you can use immediately.

2025

Looking Forward

We're planning new workshops for autumn 2025 focused on property planning and investment basics. Because financial security shouldn't feel impossible to achieve. Our team has grown to eight educators, each bringing different expertise and lived experience.

What Guides Our Work

These aren't corporate values we put on a poster. They're the principles that shape every workshop, every course, every conversation we have with learners.

No Shame, Ever

Money mistakes are normal. We've all made them. Starting with debt or zero savings doesn't make you a failure. It makes you human. Our sessions create space for honest conversations without the guilt trip.

Real-World Focus

Theory is nice. But you need practical skills. Every session includes actual tools you can use that same day. Spreadsheets, apps, tracking methods that fit your life. Not what works for someone else.

Small Steps Win

Financial transformation doesn't happen overnight. We celebrate saving your first hundred dollars as much as paying off major debt. Progress matters more than perfection.

Group discussion about budget planning strategies

Community Strength

Learning alongside others who get it makes everything easier. Our workshops connect you with people facing similar challenges. That shared experience builds confidence faster than solo learning.

Adaptive Teaching

Everyone's situation differs. Single parents juggling childcare costs need different strategies than young professionals building emergency funds. We adjust our approach based on where you're actually starting from, not where textbooks say you should be.

Financial planning materials and resources laid out on desk

Long-Term Support

A single workshop won't solve everything. We offer ongoing resources and follow-up sessions because building new habits takes time. You can reach out when questions come up months later.

Why This Matters To Us

Financial stress affects everything. Your health, relationships, career choices, mental wellbeing. When you're constantly worried about money, it's hard to focus on anything else.

We've watched people transform their lives once they understood how to manage their finances properly. Not through magic formulas or get-rich schemes. Through simple, consistent practices that actually work.

That's what drives us. Knowing that someone who felt overwhelmed last month now feels in control. Seeing parents teach their kids skills they wish they'd learned earlier. Watching couples stop arguing about money because they finally have a plan they both understand.
